NICKS NOTEBOOK

October 10, 2010

I'd like to start this month by welcoming Amanda Morgan, Nikki Ford, and Lee Hurt all up to the full time crew of RIP.  Congratulations guys, you all deserve it!  Now lets talk about whats happened since my last entry, and whats going to happen next weekend!

First off, the Black Moon Manor investigation went great last month.  Matt Speck was a welcoming host, and he treated us with respect as I hoped he would, and we tried our best to do the same for him.  Going into this case, I had heard from people who will remain unnamed here to be careful as Mr. Speck also uses the house as a haunted house attraction, which is true.  I was told that he has speakers rigged up around the house, which is also true.  But let me say right here, that Matt Speck did NOT try to fool us with anything ridiculous....the speakers were there, but they were disconnected, and we were left alone all night long to conduct our investigation.  So I would like to be the first to say that if you hear any rumors about Matt Speck putting on a show for potential investigators, those rumors are not true.  He has our utmost respect, and we would relish the opportunity to return to Black Moon Manor in the future.

Now let me tell you some of what we experienced that night.  The majority of the investigation went off without a hitch.  We did, however, have some personal experiences, which we cannot explain.  In the "psycho path" area (anyone who has been there knows where this is), one of our female investigators felt a scratch on her thigh.  Upon viewing, she did indeed, have a scratch underneath her jeans, but no signs of one from the outside.  A little odd, sure.  We did catch some EVP's, which you can find on the "past investigations page of this site.  For me, however, the most notable moment of the night happened around 4am in the funeral parlor section of the house.  Myself and three other investigators were conducting a short EVP session as we were preparing to end the night soon.  At this time, one of the fake plastic skulls sitting on top of the old furnace literally flew a good two or three feet and landed right at one of our investigators feet.  It was quite amazing, I must say.  Unfortunately, it wasn't caught on video.....doesn't that always happen??  We tried to reenact it, thinking maybe it was possible that it accidentally just fell off, although it had set in that exact place all night long.  What we found was, to make it land where it did, it had to be pushed off of there with some force, and not just dropped!  So yea, that was pretty cool.

But ok, thats in the past now, and its time to look ahead.....next weekend, October 16th to be exact, we are returning to the Roff Home in Watseka, Illinois.  But we're not coming alone this time!  We will be accompanied by Doug from 92.5 THE CHIEF, Kevin from 94.5 MIX FM, and a contest winner and guest to be named tomorrow morning!  Highlights of this investigation will be played on the air during Dougs morning show all through the week of Halloween!  How exciting is that??  I'd like to personally thank Lee Hurt and his wife Sheila for helping to get this ball rolling, and a special "great job" to Hope Jackson for taking care of the details!  You guys are all awesome, and I love ya for it!

So thats what we got going on at the moment....things just keep getting better and better, and I hope it doesn't ever stop!

So be sure and listen to 92.5 tomorrow morning and all through the week of Halloween to get a taste of what we're all about!  Until next month.......
